Agility as a mindset - willingness to change

Growit-November 3, 2023-3 min read

Being agile means being ready for change in every sense of the word. Change is inevitable, and if one has an agile mentality, change is always to be expected.

What agility means

  • Flexible response to new events, ease of adapting to change.
  • Learning, accepting new things, constant growth.
  • Openness to criticism and new ideas.
  • Having challenges, not problems.
  • Self-awareness, not vanity.
  • Willingness to leave the comfort zone.
  • Unlimited evolution into a better self.

The Agile Manifesto values

  • Individuals and interactions over processes and tools. The process itself must be agile - subject to change.
  • Working software over comprehensive documentation. Document only as much as someone will read.
  • Customer collaboration over contract negotiation. Contracts are letters on paper; new insights arrive tomorrow.
  • Responding to change over following a plan. Plan, but be aware of its limitations.

Values and principles lay the foundation for our way of working. In a complex environment, practices are emergent. When unsure how to solve a challenge, look for the answer in values.
