Leadership
Courage, humanity, and honesty as the foundation for improving work culture

Courage, humanity, and honesty are the foundation for improving work culture - with these words we concluded a panel discussion at the O.U.R. HR conference.
On salary transparency
When I asked "Raise your hand if your company has transparent salaries at any level" - zero hands went up. The primary issue is not who earns what. It is trust. How much do we trust the people we work with? How much do we trust the leaders we expect to make tough decisions?
Officially, no one knows others' salaries. Unofficially, everyone knows everything. We could reduce so much office politics if we were just a little more honest and open.
Companies leading the way
- Levels Health - 50 employees, valuation over 300M EUR, complete transparency including recorded team meetings.
- Buffer - 200+ employees, all salaries public on their website.
- Arc - Building a web browser entirely in public, engaging community to shape product direction.
Courage, humanity, and honesty - something I carry forward, both personally and within the companies I work with.
